Join the Martha & Mary Mission

Martha & Mary’s mission is simple: to provide quality, compassionate care  for children, adults and seniors—regardless of faith, ethnicity, or economic status. As a non-profit organization, we’re grateful to be able to focus on upholding our high standards rather than on growing profits. But that means we rely on the help of our generous donors to close the gap between Medicaid and other state and federal programs so we can continue to serve our community.

We cannot operate without the help of people like you.

Loving our neighbor, together.

Martha & Mary needs your help. For more than 133 years, we have worked to fill the need for quality child and senior care in the Kitsap community. Today, we are building our endowment in order to be able to serve far into the future.

The need is great. Nearly 600 skilled nursing facilities closed in the U.S. during the pandemic, and more close every day due to diminishing profitability, despite an increase in demand. Seniors with sufficient resources can pay for private care, but those without will struggle. Federal programs, such as Medicaid, don’t begin to cover the full cost of care. As one of the largest Medicaid nursing homes in the state, we are committed to providing for those in need both now and in the decades to come—just as we are committed to providing childcare to low-income families in the community.

Please consider helping us provide the most vulnerable in our community with the care they deserve.

"It is sometimes said that it takes a village to raise a child. But this shared responsibility does not end with childhood. We need to ensure the health and well-being of all in our community at every phase of their lives, including sickness and old age. This is the mission that Martha and Mary fulfills in Kitsap County. We contribute to Martha and Mary because we believe in and want to support that very important role."

Join our dedicated volunteers

Help make Martha & Mary the special place that it is! Our volunteers have a tremendous impact on the lives of those we serve, and they tell us the time shared is emotionally gratifying,  intellectually stimulating, and meaningful  beyond expectation. From simple interactions to the joy of celebrating a 100th birthday, these moments fill the heart and fuel the soul.

We accept volunteers as young as 13 (though the scope of volunteer work may be restricted until they are 16), and in many opportunities of service. These include everything from spiritual ministries, pet therapy, horticulture, flower arranging, crafts, administrative, and working in the gift shop, to rocking and feeding babies in the Child Care Center.

For more information, please contact our Volunteer Services Director or submit a volunteer application. Applicants will be contacted for a quick interview with the Volunteer Service Directors, a full orientation, a background check, and tour of the facility. We’d love to have you!
